PRF BBQ Rockfest 2010 Lineup Announced
So there’s an awesome recording studio here in Chicago that you may have heard of called Electrical Audio owned by a guy who may have heard of named Steve Albini.
You may also know that a pretty healthy community has formed around Electrical Audio’s message boards. (And if you do happen to know this, that means you’re either a music geek (nothing wrong with that) or you read Stereogum’s post a few years ago about Steve Albini’s poker advice and expression of his hatred for Urge Overkill on said boards.)
But if you’re not in Chicago, what you may not know – and I didn’t until a few minutes ago – is that last year some of the folks from the Electrical Audio boards (specifically, the Premier Rock Forum) put together a 3-day concert with a ton of bands, BBQ and all-around fun.
And they’re doing it again this year. Only this year it’s a -4- day party, from Thursday, June 10th through Sunday, June 13th. I haven’t seen a price yet, but last year there was a separate donation requested per night, and a $15 suggested donation for a full-weekend pass.

So… is only the first night at quenchers? Whats the password… how do we lurkers get our que on?
That’s a good question. I haven’t looked into this all that closely — I actually discovered it because Bottomless Pit had the show listed on their website.
Anyway, from the little I can tell from the PRF board, the folks organizing this there really want it to be a PRF-only event. They’re not advertising it anywhere; they’re providing transportation only to those people on the board that they know; etc. etc. And they seemed annoyed when someone found my post about the BBQ. So I’m not sure how welcome non-board folks are going to be at this thing (nor am I sure just how much room there is where it’s being held).
If you want to find more info, I’d suggest looking around on the Electrical Audio boards. None of the info seems to be truly “secret”, but you just have to be willing to do a little digging if you really want to figure out what’s going on.
Hey, nobody is annoyed and anyone who’s not an asshole is welcome. Keep in mind it is a party a bunch of friends put together and everyone there is going to be cool with one another, so any assholes are going to stick out like a sore thumb and be instantly lopped off as such. If ya wanna come and you think you can be cool, feel free, that goes for anyone.
First night Quenchers, Friday night thru Sunday night at the Drug Church. The address can be found in the threads somewhere and will be made more clear as the day nears.
Hey man-
Appreciate the info. As I said, I discovered quickly that this is kind of an inside thing and havent pursued it at all.
Not sure why the assumption would be that any of us would be “assholes”, though. Most of us are just music fans constantly on the lookout for cool shows and bands.
It’s not really an inside thing. Anyone can access the board, anyone can find this thing (hasn’t left the front page since it’s inception).
Assholes are everywhere, but people who dig good times and good music and who conduct themselves like adults are rarely confused for the standard jerk-off. It’s like any other show, really. No one’s standing at the door checking forum laminates. No one is going to ask you about polarity. There is, however, a beard quota.
If people are willing to make the trip (people are flying from overseas, driving across the country, etc. etc.), they obviously are interested in some tenet of the festival, and it’d be a pleasure to have them in attendance for such an event. This isn’t some bullshit cool kids club. It just so happens most of these folks are really cool.
I can’t fucking wait.
