We Were Promised Jetpacks Return to Chicago on 3/11
Excellent news — Scotland’s We Were Promised Jetpacks are set to play Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on Thursday, March 11th.
If you’ve been paying attention (or keeping an eye on my Twitter feed), you may have noticed that the band had previously announced a month-long U.S. tour in February and March which would take the band down the East Coast, across the South, up the West Coast, and back into the middle of the country, stopping abruptly in Lawrence, Kansas without ever making it into the Midwest. And, honestly, it seemed a little odd, especially given that the band is already confirmed to be playing in Austin during SXSW just a week later.
So it’s not terribly surprising – though it is very welcome – to see that the band added three new dates today in Omaha (3/8), Minneapolis (3/9) and Chicago (3/10). And hell, that still gives them 8 days to get down to Texas, so you never know if one or two more shows just might get added on.

No stop in Austin?! BOO-urns. Hopefully, they’ll be at SXSW.
I forget where I read this, but they’re supposedly confirmed to be playing ONE show at SXSW this year. I forget which showcase it’s part of, but I can only assume it’s gonna be one of the harder shows to get into (unless you’re willing to get there real early and sit through a bunch of other bands).
Who comes to SXSW for only ONE show? I’m filing an official protest. I might forced them to put on a free show in my backyard.
