Dangerous Highway: A Tribute To Eddie Hinton

I had no idea this was happening, but I just noticed on Wussy’s Facebook feed that Cincinnati’s Shake It Records is releasing a limited edition series of 7-inches with bands – including The Drive-By Truckers, Greg Dulli and Wussy - covering the songs of Eddie Hinton.

If you don’t know him, Eddie was a highly respected musician and songwriter who played lead guitar for the Muscle Shoals Sound Rhythm Section in the late 60′s, and worked as a session guitarist for Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Elvis Presley and many more.  Hinton passed away in 1995 at the age of 51.

The first two releases of Shake It’s Dangerous Highway: A Tribute To The Songs of Eddie Hinton are available now.  The first release features The Drive-By Truckers covering “Where’s Eddie” and “Everybody Needs Love”, and the second features Greg Dulli covering “Hard Luck Guy” and “Cover Me”.  Wussy’s 7-inch is due out in early 2010, and will feature the band covering “Breakfast In Bed” and “300 Pounds of Hongry”.
