MP3: The Jet Age, “It Could Be Brand New”
The Jet Age, “It Could Be Brand New”
One of the best bands that I had the pleasure of seeing, and getting to know, during the two years that I lived in Washington, D.C. was rock trio The Jet Age.
What attracted me to the band was the fact that, put simply, it doesn’t have time for trends – the band just knows how to write a great rock song, and has three incredible musicians who bring life to those songs in a way that few other bands could. And, honestly, that’s the majority of what I’m looking for in music. You can keep your vibraphones, your children’s choirs and your unnecessary 12th band members – just give me the rock.
Thankfully, that’s exactly what The Jet Age have done with their new album, in “Love”. Hot on the heels of last year’s political concept album, What Did You Do During The War, Daddy?, the band returns with another concept album, this time taking on issues of adultery, love and adult responsibility. And, of course, the album kicks a fair bit of ass while telling its story.
in “Love” comes out on Tuesday, October 27th, and the band will be hitting the road for a national tour a couple of weeks later. Full dates are still to be announced, but those of you in Chicago would be well-served to join me at Beat Kitchen to see the band on Thursday, November 5th.
[Oh, and a quick disclaimer - as previously mentioned, I'm helping out The Jet Age on their PR efforts for in "Love". Not that I wouldn't have written the exact same post even if I weren't, but I figured it was right to mention it.]
