OBLiO, “A Story Of Nashville”
You may recall that I posted pictures of a band called OBLiO back in June when they played at the Black Cat with locals Tereu Tereu and Typefighter.
That was the first time that I’d heard the band, and they achieved a feat that few bands can do in a live setting – they immediately won me over. My thought at the time was that they reminded me quite a bit of Rogue Wave’s recent output, and the release of their new album, Tonight, You’re Gonna Be a Revelation, only strengthens the comparison. (Heck, their bassist even looks a little like Pat from RW.)
Anyway, I downloaded Tonight, You’re Gonna Be a Revelation a few days ago, and it’s pretty much been on repeat ever since (with the exception of a few hours I spent with the Beatles remasters this weekend). I highly recommend checking it out. You can get it via iTunes or eMusic, and I assume you can probably get a hard copy at one of the band’s upcoming shows.
And speaking of upcoming shows, the band has a number of shows scheduled over the next couple of months. Sadly they’re yet another band playing Chicago just days before I move there, but hopefully they’ll swing back through before too long.
