Roadside Graves @ Red and Black Bar, DC [7/29/09]

Fantastic set from Roadside Graves tonight. You really, really shoulda been there.

For lack of a better comparison, you should think of these guys as essentially being The Hold Steady or Lucero before anyone knew who they were. Neither of those are really good barometers of what Roadside Graves sound like – though the strong Springsteen influence that each band has shown at times does tie them together a bit – but rather the comparison is based on the amount of energy and earnestness that the bands bring to the stage. And it’s also a good comparison for the type of popularity that the Roadside Graves could be looking at in a couple of years if they can keep things going.
