Lisa Hannigan @ 9:30 Club [3/8/09]
Well crap, that was pretty much a snooze-fest.
Guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised, given that Lisa’s debut album, Sea Sew, was a pretty low-key affair. But I was always a huge fan of Lisa’s live performance back in the day with Damien Rice, and I also knew that 1/2 of her live band is from Damien’s old band, so I held out hope that her live show would be somewhat interesting.
Sadly, it wasn’t. Her set wasn’t awful by any means — she has a charming on-stage demeanor and her voice is great — but it was just all a little too pleasant and samey. It was a nice way to spend 30 minutes. After 45, though, I had to leave. At least now I don’t need to take time out of my SXSW to catch her down in Austin.

Was looking forward to this show in NYC, but I was out of town. Now, I'm not so upset I missed it.
