Chicago Festival News

So you may have already seen by now, but both of Chicago’s premier summertime music festivals – Lollapalooza and Pitchfork – announced their headliners today. And while both will certainly announce quite a bit more bands (Lollapalooza will probably announce 80-100 more), Pitchfork clearly has the early lead for my money.

Actually, to be honest, it’s already a foregone conclusion that I’m going to Pitchfork this year, so I’m actually kinda happy that their lineup is so good.

Anyway, here are the lineups so far:

Pitchfork (July 17-19)
Friday: Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, The Jesus Lizard, Tortoise (all 4 playing all-request sets)
Saturday: The National, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Pharoahe Monch + more TBA
Sunday: Grizzly Bear, The Walkmen, Vivian Girls + more TBA

Lollapalooza (August 7-9)
Depeche Mode, Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addiction (and Tool too according to BV)
