My Continued Fascination With The Deep Vibration
I admit it… I’ve fallen head over heels for The Deep Vibration.
Maybe it’s because I’m suffering from Wilco withdrawal after a couple of years without an album. Maybe it’s because high quality “Americana” is so hard to come by these days. Or maybe it’s simply because the band’s music is fantastic. Or a combination of all three.
Either way, I’ve got a couple more links for you to help get you on board the bandwagon as well.
The first link (which I re-tweeted earlier today) is a video of the band performing their song “Third Day of July” live in the Paste Magazine studio. You can find it here.
The second is the band’s performance of the same song in the WOXY Lounge a couple of days ago, which I’ve clipped from the full-session audio and turned into a standalone MP3. You can find it streaming over at Babystew Radio.
I’d promise to stop posting about these guys, but that’s not really a promise I want to make right now.

I’m listening to their Veracruz EP right now. You’re totally right – very Wilco-esque. I like it. Do you know when/where they’re playing at SXSW? We need to check them out.
Looks like they’re playing 6 times at SXSW, though 2 are still TBA.
Wed,. 3/18: TBA
Thu., 3/19, 1am: Maggie Mae’s Gibson Room (512 Trinity)
Fri., 3/20, 1pm: Maria’s Taco Xpress (2529 S. Lamar)
Fri., 3/20, 1:50am: American Spirit party (504 Trinity)
Sat., 3/21, 3pm: Longbranch Inn (1133 E. 11th)
Sat., 3/21: TBA
Definitely need to catch at least one of these, but not sure when yet… I think we’re actually slated to have migas at Maria’s on Friday morning, but I know at least one of my friends needs to be back in town by noon, so I may not have a ride back if I stay for Deep Vibration.
