I Am Trying to Break Your Hip
For those still paying attention, apparently Bill Berry joined the rest of R.E.M. on stage to play “Country Feedback” after the Minus 5 show in Atlanta Athens, GA this weekend. This photo of the emotional and cathartic reunion, and others, can be found at Spotted.
Numerous other bits and pieces from around my favorite sites this morning..
Stereogum has video audio of the Flaming Lips performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” at the Saturday night Webster Hall show.
An Aquarium Drunkard has another set of rare Black Crowes-related rarities. This time they’re songs from a short-lived kinda, sorta fusion between the Crowes and Jellyfish, circa 1994. Go listen.
Some sad news to report. A recent discovery of mine, Rbally, has decided to close up shop and will be up and running only for another two weeks. Do yourself a favor and run, don’t walk, and check out the incredible amount of stuff they have, including live Bob Pollard, Portastatic, Jane’s Addiction and Whiskeytown, among others, before it all goes away.
If you have a couple of minutes, go check out a really nice little Sondre Lerche article over at New York magazine. Just when you think he couldn’t be any more likable, he goes and calls out Williamsburg for sucking. Go Sondre! (Link via Large Hearted Boy.)
And, finally, returning to the beginning of the post, the Chicago Tribune has a nice article on Peter Buck and the Minus 5 here.

FYI, that REM thingy was at the 40 Watt in Athens, not here in Atlanta.
Thanks for the correction! Guess it makes sense they’d play in Athens..
