This Week In Chicago [Sept. 6-12]

Solid week of music coming up here in Chicago. The only two shows I’m definitely going to are Tommy Keene at Schubas on Thursday and Hey Rosetta! at Lincoln Hall on Friday, but there’s plenty of other interesting stuff that might convince me to venture out on other nights.

One show I will not be seeing, however, is that Slash set with Myles Kennedy on vocals (opening for Billy Idol). Based on the video I’ve seen, I’d much prefer to see Axl Rose show up an hour late with a team of fake Slashes than Slash show up on time with this dude.

Shows in bold are recommended shows, while shows in larger bold red are shows that I plan on going to and/or shows that I really, really think you should be going to. Oh, and be sure to check out the embedded videos/audio below to get a taste of some of the bands playing this week (including Slash and not-Axl performing “Paradise City”).

This Week In Chicago [June 1-6]

Short week this week thanks to the holiday. Not the strongest week ever, but there’s at least one show I’d be interested in seeing every night, and the weekend is pretty much flat-out bad ass thanks to the Do Division Festival. And if you want to see one of my favorite up-and-coming acts around right now, join me at Schubas on Saturday night for Milwaukee’s fantastic Juniper Tar.

Shows in bold are recommended shows, while shows in larger bold red are shows that I plan on going to and/or shows that I really, really think you should be going to.
